Using Generic Fonts Instead of Custom Fonts

In addition to the Florence Theme’s custom font settings, you can also manage all your site’s fonts through the Kadence typography settings in the WordPress Customizer. This allows you to use either:

• Custom fonts you uploaded
• Built-in Kadence / Google Fonts

These settings control fonts globally, meaning changes made here will update font usage across your website.

Step 1 – Open the Typography Settings in the Customizer

1. In your WordPress dashboard, go to Appearance → Customize.
2. In the Customizer, open Colors & Fonts.
3. Then open Typography.

Step 2 – Review the Current Global Font Assignments

Inside the Typography settings, you’ll see font options such as:

• Base Font
• Heading Font Family

These may already be set to fonts included in the Kadence framework or to the Florence custom fonts you uploaded earlier.

For example:

• Florence Custom Headings may be assigned as the heading font
• Curly Script or another custom script font may appear as an available option

Use Your Uploaded Custom Fonts

If you want to use the custom fonts you uploaded throughout your site:

1. Open the relevant font dropdown, such as Base Font or Heading Font Family.
2. Select one of your uploaded fonts, such as:
   • Florence Custom Headings
   • Florence Custom Script
3. Once selected, that font will apply globally across your site wherever that typography setting is used.

Make sure you have assigned your custom fonts to Florence Custom Headings/Script in the previous article.

Switch to a Built-In Kadence / Google Font

You are not required to use the uploaded Florence custom fonts.
If you’d prefer to use one of Kadence’s built-in fonts instead:

1. Click the font dropdown currently assigned to a Florence custom font.
2. Browse the available font list and select any font of your choosing.

Kadence includes access to many preloaded Google Fonts, so you can easily swap to a different style without uploading anything new.
